"Oh. I see." Dalia Jude snickered slightly, realizing what Lyn had meant. "Well lets hope you don't try any stupid moves any time soon?" She made a move to join him on the bench.
But then she realized that her busted ankle wasn't about to help her get over there without a struggle. So she hopped a few times on her good skate, making sure not to jump too high, and then just plopped herself down and scooted over. "What's that you've got?"

Lyn felt a slight twinge of guilt as it occurred to him that he probably should've offered to help Dalia Jude over to the bench. However, slight was the operative word, as his new found acquaintance was asking him about his library book. He had hoped that she wouldn't ask about it, but it was probably his own fault for walking around with something that was geared towards a much younger audience.
"Just don't laugh. It's The Pinhoe Egg," he finally admitted with some reluctance, tilting the book so that the cover faced Dalia Jude. "Honestly, I don't think all the years in the world would be enough to wean me off of certain children's books."

Dalia Jude smiled toothily, suppressing the laugh that was tickling the back of her throat. "Oh, that's fine. I'm sure its a lot easier to read then those painful novels. Though how you found a book like that in the library I have no clue. I didn't know there was a children's section." She tilted her head in interest as she examined the cover. It looked pleasant, and wasn't as thick or hefty as some of those ridiculous vampire books people were toting around these days. So far it had a spot in her good list, and if it had large text that would be another plus.
"And don't worry about getting teased or anything. If anyone tries, just tell me and I'll throttle 'em over the head with my skates." She seemed even more excited about this proposition. "I still have my security blanket. Though I don't really think it's the same, but it kinda is. And if you tell anyone that, I'll throttle you. Okay?" Dalia Jude swung her good foot back and forth, staring at the boy next to her seriously.

"They've got everything in the library, if you know where to look," explained Lyn, absently thumbing though the pages of the book. "Or who's working there that day, and who can be bribed with gummy bears. Which is almost no one, but I got lucky."
At the proposition of fending off his would-be verbal attackers with Dalia Jude's roller skates, Lyn raised his eyebrows, a bemused grin spreading across his face. "My lips are sealed. Death by roller skates sounds unconventional, and quite painful." However, his tone indicated that he wasn't entirely opposed to the idea. "But it's good to know I've got a skates-wielding guardian angel watching my back."

"Do you just carry around gummy bears?" Dalia Jude snorted, thinking it quite strange. "That's not too bad an idea though. Do they not just have a computer system?" She clutched the bottom of the bench, babbling a few things to herself before returning her attention to her companion.
As she finally processed the rest of his speech, she again broke out into a cheerful grin. "Just call me your violent fairy godmother. Your wonderful hero, your champion, your tireless protector. Any of the four is fine."
